But we must warn you: desire is not enough. Before you start looking for a remote dream job, we suggest you go through the starting quest first. </p>

Introduction

<h3 dir="ltr">Freelance</h3>
<p dir="ltr">Freelance is not just remote work, but work on order, that is, when a company or individual needs your services temporarily, for a limited period. Such employment has some important features:</p>

<p dir="ltr" role="presentation">non-standard work hours: a freelancer always has to work under tight deadlines, since the tasks are essentially a project work, where only the result matters;</p>

<p dir="ltr" role="presentation">lack of labor obligations: having the order completed, a freelancer can go on vacation at any time, but both sick leave and the vacation itself will have to be paid exclusively from his or her own pocket; </p>

<p dir="ltr" role="presentation">unstable workload and inconsistent earnings: freelancers are constantly searching for projects, because when one is over, they have no job to do. However, this problem, together with an unstable level of income, is easily solved through the creation of a personal brand, portfolio and a high level of professional skills. </p>

<p dir="ltr">Permanent remote employment means that an employee works exclusively for one company under a formal employment contract, but not from the office: they can choose to work either from home or any other place. The main features here are as follows:</p>

Some employees work online in the same way as offline employees, from 9 to 6, while others are allowed to work at any time of the day or night, on the condition that all deadlines are met and high quality of work is maintained. </p>

<p dir="ltr">This format of remote work is also called mixed or hybrid. The employee works either in the office or at home, depending on the specific requirements of the company or  active tasks. Most often, an employee is given a plan that indicates how many hours and where he or she should work. Thus, employees can plan their own schedule and work in the office only when it is convenient for them.</p>
<p dir="ltr">By combining the benefits of remote and office work, this way of working remotely barely has any drawbacks. This format makes it possible for you to cleverly distribute the workload, combine online tools with live communication, and at the same time it provides you with all labor guarantees, exactly like the previous version. Partial remote employment is the best choice for professions that cannot be transferred to the entire online space, such as a psychiatrist, engineer, etc.</p>
<h3 dir="ltr">What you will need to work remotely: checklist</h3>
<p dir="ltr">Regardless of which remote format you choose, you must have:</p>

<p dir="ltr" role="presentation">Your workplace. It should be a real desk, and preferably placed away from the bed. It is important to separate the rest area and the work area, as in this case it is easier for the brain to switch between one and the other, and you will reduce the risk of stress. </p>

<p dir="ltr" role="presentation">The ability to ensure silence. At home, there are many more distractions than at the office, so you’d better discuss this issue with your family members in advance and take care of privacy. </p>

<p dir="ltr" role="presentation">Fast Wi-Fi and a modern gadget to work with. With a slow internet connection or an outdated computer that may reboot at any time with no slightest intention from your side, you are unlikely to be able to work efficiently. </p>

<li dir="ltr" aria-level="1">
<p dir="ltr" role="presentation">Time management skills and self-discipline. At home, you are 100% responsible for your progress. Remember that the lack of external control may lead to procrastination. </p>

<li dir="ltr" aria-level="1">
<p dir="ltr" role="presentation">Readiness to reduce the number of social ties. It can be difficult for extroverts  to adjust to the lack of face-to-face communication and the constant stay at home. This also applies to training and communication with your team: be prepared for difficulties, as some issues are more difficult to discuss online than offline.</p>
