Do you often think: "I don't belong here" or "I'm not good enough"? Do you have a habit of undervaluing your achievements and thinking, "I just got lucky"? Do you think you are not worthy of your job, your income, or the support of your loved ones? If you are familiar with these symptoms, you are probably experiencing imposter syndrome.
Imposter syndrome is a phenomenon in which a person feels that they are not competent enough and do not deserve their achievements. They believe they owe their success to luck and coincidence.
The use of the word "syndrome" in this case is not quite justified. This phenomenon has nothing to do with the medical field. But the name is fixed in this particular form, so it evokes associations with a disease that we need to get rid of as soon as possible. However, "imposture" is rather a set of feelings and patterns of how we perceive successes or failures.
The phenomenon describes people with great achievements who, despite their objective successes, cannot accept them. Hence insecurity, constant fear of being exposed and embarrassment about their position.
Are you struggling with the syndrome in your professional fulfilment? You think you are not competent enough for the position you hold, or you earn too much by working too little. Or maybe "imposteritis" has caught up with you in personal fulfilment or in your studies? In our new online course, we'll show you how.
