The volume of the global EdTech market in 2020 was $227 billion, while the Russian market is about 30 billion rubles.
This record growth is because many schools, colleges, and universities have been forced to switch to online learning due to the coronavirus. However, experts believe the EdTech market's growth won't stop at the end of the pandemic.
They predict that by 2022, the global EdTech market volume will reach $295 billion, and by 2025, it will already have reached $404 billion. In this case, the Russian segment of the market will also grow by 20-25%.
The EdTech market continues to grow, and there's a high probability that it will even accelerate in the future. However, currently, it is slowed down by the following negative factors:
- Insufficient inflow of investments. So far, the phenomenon of investing in digital technologies is not widespread enough among sponsors. But the popularity of the niche is growing: compared to 2010, investments in EdTech have grown 32 times.
- Poor technical equipment of educational institutions in some countries and low Internet speeds in some regions.
- The too rapid transition to online education during the pandemic where parents were dissatisfied with the quality of education. Consequently, they have begun to treat EdTech with distrust.
- An understaffing and teacher prejudice about online education.
- A lack of legislative regulation and legal gaps.
