Nashville Volunteer Organization Creates Mini School for Single Parents' Children
West Nashville Dream Center has created a 32-child classroom to support parents whose children are experiencing learning difficulties during the coronavirus pandemic.
All students in the class are taught offline: volunteers working in several shifts help with lessons, activists provide free meals. The West Nashville Dream Center noted that the mini-school even has a "therapy room" where children can be alone, and quieten down. All this allows single parents to "have time to work".
Nashville Schools are planning to return to normal classroom teaching offline after the winter break. Until then, Dream Center is going to keep operating the classroom. Representatives of the organization however admit that demand for such centers significantly exceeds the availability of seats, and they are not able to accept every student who applies to the mini-school.
