Coursera will help students with job search
Australian job search service SEEK Group has recently invested $103 million into educational platform Coursera: the money will be used to develop programs and help students find jobs.
Coursera is currently shifting its focus towards increasing collaboration with large corporations and building up corporate education programs - for example, it has developed an IT specialist training program for Google.
Coursera CEO Jeff Maggioncalda has promised that the company will leverage its business connections to help its students find employment, by introducing them to potential employers and giving positive recommendations.
Today, Coursera is the most popular global online education platform. To date, it has released 3 200 courses and 310 specializations, attracting twice as many students as its competitors: in 2018, Coursera already had 37 million students. For comparison, in that same year edX had 18 million students, with just 14 million taking courses on XuetangX. The current capitalization of Coursera is upwards of $1 billion, as reported by TechCrunch, citing a 'source close to the company'.
The platform is also quite popular in Russia, featuring 290 online courses and specializations from local companies and universities.
