Robbo, which specializes in the production of educational robotics for children, has launched an online system for studying robotics on its official website robboclub.ru.
In early 2020, when most countries announced the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Robbo was forced to urgently shut down 150 clubs around the world. The company needed to come up with an alternative to the traditional robotics classes and convert them into an online format. Thus, it founded a technological platform based on LMS to give children an opportunity to remotely continue their studies in robotics. The online educational platform Robbo LMS was developed with the support of the Innovation Promotion Foundation.
The Robbo LMS platform includes the development of programming skills in Minecraft and Python, robotics, and 3D modeling through TinkerCAD and FreeCAD. The platform even has a complete Unity course for kids. The learning on the platform is carried out through video lessons, group chats, virtual whiteboards, and a notebook with practical assignments for self-study. The platform also provides tools for virtual programming of robots and a two-dimensional simulator based on Scratch, a visual programming language. Robbo LMS plans to add Gazebo, a robot simulator, which allows children to create their own virtual assistants and program them before they are released in reality.
