Melania Trump Introduces Humanoid Robot as the "Ideal Teacher"
At the "Fostering the Future Together" summit at the White House on March 25, the First Lady of the United States proposed the widespread introduction of AI robots into schools.
She presented the concept of an android named "Platon," which, according to Melania Trump's vision, could replace a human teacher while providing a personalized approach to each student.
Melania Trump walked the White House red carpet arm in arm with a humanoid robot, Figure 03. Thus, the First Lady opened the second day of the summit dedicated to the role of artificial intelligence in education. The event was attended by the spouses of world leaders from more than 40 countries, including Sara Netanyahu and Brigitte Macron, as well as representatives of major technology companies, among them Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI, Google, Zoom, and Adobe.
The key moment of the summit was the presentation of the concept of an android educator named "Platon," named after the ancient Greek philosopher. "Imagine a humanoid educator named Platon. Access to classical knowledge will become instantaneous. Literature, science, art, philosophy, mathematics, and history - the entire corpus of human knowledge will be available in your home," asserts Melania Trump.
According to the First Lady's vision, such a robot teacher is capable not only of transmitting information but also of adapting to the individual needs of each student. "Platon is always patient and always available. Our children will predictably develop deep critical thinking and independent analytical abilities. The AI-based android will enhance analytical skills and solve problems, adapting in real time to the student's pace, their prior knowledge, and even their emotional state."
Among the advantages of this approach, Melania Trump cited freeing up time for socializing with friends, playing sports, and hobbies, which will ultimately make the child "a more well-rounded individual."
However, the initiative almost instantly drew sharp criticism from opponents of the Trump administration. California Governor Gavin Newsom - one of the main political opponents of the current president - reacted negatively to the presentation of the robot teacher. The greatest outrage over the First Lady's idea came from professional teaching communities. Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, believes that this initiative serves the interests of large technology corporations striving for total automation. Weingarten emphasized that artificial intelligence should remain merely an auxiliary tool in the hands of a teacher, not replace him. "The future is already here," she addressed the audience. "What are we going to do to make sure that AI is a tool? That people remain at the helm, and not the tool?"
Melania Trump stressed that she is not calling for teacher layoffs, but rather sees their future in symbiosis with technology.
