Schoolchildren in Michigan organized a charity drive in honor of a school dog
At Okemos Montessori Elementary School (Michigan, USA), students marked the birthday of the school dog Sadie with a charity drive for an animal shelter.
Instead of gifts for the dog itself, the children organized a collection for the Ingham County Animal Shelter - as a sign of gratitude for the fact that Sadie helps students every day.
Sadie is a well-trained golden retriever. She has worked at the school for many years as a "reading buddy": she becomes a listener for children who get too nervous while reading a book or doing lessons and are afraid to make mistakes. Thanks to Sadie, many children have come to feel more confident within the school walls. This is exactly what motivated their decision to collect help for one of the shelters - to support dogs like Sadie in the same way she supports them. With the help of social media, the school community collected food, toys, and other items and sent all of it to the dog shelter.
